Prayer for Aceh

Meditate on Ephesians 1:15-23

15For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, 16I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. 17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Prayer Prompt

There are rumors of a couple of streams of potential Church Planting Movements happening in Aceh. Many times in the Muslim world, rumors are what are first reported. This is because of the security risks that come with introducing outsiders to the movement to verify the number of believers being reported. Because of this reality we can only report about the rumors and pray that they are true, and that God is establishing his church in Aceh. At an appropriate time, outside researchers will be able to verify these reports. In the past, researchers’ best guess was that there were around 250 known believers in Aceh (out of a population of roughly 5 million people). There are potentially thousands of believers in Aceh now, yet probably only around 500 that have been verified. 

Prayer Points:

• Pray Ephesians 1:16-17 over the believers in Aceh- “I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.” 
• Pray for these rumored church planting movements. Pray that these groups would be strengthened and emboldened to share Jesus with family, friends, and neighbors. 
• Pray for the church in Indonesia and globally to know how to appropriately engage and encourage the new believers. 
•  Praise God that His word is true and that every people group on earth, including all 11 unreached people groups in Aceh, will have the good news proclaimed to them. Thank you that this is beginning to happen and you will bring it to pass.
