Meditate on Deuteronomy 6:4-9
4Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.  5Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Prayer Prompt
In Mark 12 Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was, and he answered that we should love the Lord our God with all of our heart, and our soul and mind and strength. Jesus was quoting Deuteronomy 6 when he answered the question. The Jews knew this as the Shema.  In Deuteronomy it goes on to paint a picture of people who live out loud and openly declare that they love God. They live this way in their bedroom and on the road, in private and in public. They live in a way that there is no question about who their allegiance is to.  This Shema lifestyle is lived out by caring for others, meeting their needs, praying for healing and deliverance, and talking about what God is doing in our lives. As we live this Shema lifestyle, we believe we will find people who are hungry for God.Â
